Movie Reviews
Man of Steel was released in 2013, directed by Zack Snyder, released by 20th Century Fox.
This movie is one of my personal favorites. The way that they portrayed things and people were awesome! I must say, it was better in theaters because I saw it in IMAX. But, because this is a comedy review series, I must make fun of it. While some of it, I agree with, but that does not discourage me to say that it is one of my favorites. Anyway, this movie was released well after the last Superman movie, Superman Returns. And, since that one had crashed and burned, everyone expected this one to be amazing. The trailers were awesome! They brought you in and showed you what you were going to get out of a well-made Superman movie. When we went to see it, we had to high expectations and what we got was a bad remake of a terrible remake. The film was way longer than it needed to be, gave a terrible villain, and had a horrible backstory, although, that was probably the best part. The film's run time was two hours and twenty-eight minutes long. It was too dang long to keep anyone amused. The movie made little kids fall asleep faster than anyone who has ever looked at a clock for a long time. The movie's villain was horrible. He was never introduced in the comics and he will not be introduced here. He had bad plans that would fail every time he did them. Finally, the backstory was weird and bad. There was no need for there to be that much backstory in such an already long movie. I guess this is what we will always end up getting from Hollywood. A remake of a remake of a movie. You know what, I wish upon a star that someone in Hollywood will have some sort of original idea, because that will become one of the greatest movies of all time. I mean, even if it was like a Star Wars movie, or had robots fighting over a planet, it would still be better than a remake of a remake of a movie. In reality I give this movie 4 stars, but if I gave it the rating from what I just wrote, it gets only 1 star for being so unoriginal and long and, well, just being bad.

Transformers Age of Extinction was released in 2014, directed by Michael Bay, and released by Paramount. I was always a fan of Transformers. I loved the 1986 movie, The Transformers: The Movie. That was one of my favorite movies as a kid. It was all robots and all fighting. Since I had enjoyed that movie, I expected the live-action films to be as good, or at least close to it. Instead I was introduced to the true evil of Michael Bay. I know that many people like Michael Bay, but I am not a fan of what he has done with his movies. Many people say that Michael Bay makes great action films and has set a new standard. I say that some of his movies are good, but there needs to be a limit on the amount of explosions and screen flares that can take place in an action film. Look at this to see what I mean: Sure, anyone can disagree with Michael because of explosions and screen flares, but I am talking about Transformers Age of Extinction today. Transformers movies are supposed to be robots fighting each other, but in Michael Bay's version, there are humans who basically do everything. Sure, there always was a few humans, but there never was this much human involvement in the movies. Back to Age of Extinction though. Age of Extinction starts by introducing us to a completely new human lead, Cade Yeager, played by Mark Wahlberg. Cade is a down-in-the-dumps inventor, whose daughter is a senior in high school. She is the one said to be running the family now that Cade is going nuts to try to make money. Cade finds a unique truck that he has never seen before and takes it home to scrap it for parts. When he hooks the truck up to a battery, something completely different comes out. The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, appears to them and explains why he has been in hiding. The United States military is done working with the Autobots because they have caused a whole bunch of trouble on Earth. The military is hunting down and killing the robots so that the Earth will no longer have Decepticons and Autobots fighting. So begins the great plot. I enjoyed the robot on robot fighting scenes in this movie, but there was once again way to much human help. This film was one of my favorites, but that's just because it's probably the best idea that Hollywood can come up with anymore. I wish that Hollywood would stop making sequels of this movie, but instead give us what we really want, which is a movie like the old television show. All robots fighting, with very little human involvement. If I ever get to see that movie in my lifetime, I will be as happy as Michael Bay is when he sets off an explosion. I give this movie 1 gold star for effort. The only reason that this even gets a star is because of the robot fighting sequences.
Today's feature film is frozen. This film was one of the most popular films of 2013, directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and released from Disney. The first time I saw this movie, it was a mistake. I mean mistake, not just because I wasn't a giant fan of it, but because I wasn't meant to see it. When I went to the movies, I was there to watch the newer Hunger Games, but that was sold out, and my family decided that we should watch Frozen. This film has now become one of my worst nightmares. It has the worst acting I have ever seen. This movie is honestly one of my least favorite films. The main reason is because of the lack of originality in it. This movie was basically the Lion King all over again. Would you like to know why? #1: Main character becomes orphaned.#2: Main character runs away#3: Main Character sings a song about forgetting the past#4: Family/loved one comes after main character and warns of danger at home#5: family member/loved one is taking over town/packShall i continue, or do you get the point? This movie is so unoriginal that it shocks me that it made so much money. Welcome to Hollywood, home of the most unoriginal people on Earth. Oh, maybe in the Universe, too, but that's not for me to decide. Sure, I may be a bit old fashioned, you know, liking original ideas, but hey, do what you want Hollywood.
I give this movie 2 gold stars for effort. Sure there was some humor, I'll give it that, but that's all. I must give credit to Honest Trailers on Youtube for coming up with some of the coincidences. Check out The Lion King's Honest Trailer to see some more! |
